Commerce City police transports man after he has “mental health crisis,” starts fire inside home

An adult male, described as having a mental health crisis, was transported to a local hospital Saturday morning after he started a small fire inside a home at 16381 East 10th Place in Commerce City.

Police responded to reports of a disturbance at the residence and found the man damaging property inside the home, police said. The man started a small fire and South Adams County Fire Department and Northglenn Ambulance responded. Police entered the residence and secured the man without incident.

The man was transported to the hospital for self-inflicted injuries and a mental health evaluation. Two officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment related to smoke exposure. Everyone is in stable condition, police said.
