After arresting two men on suspicion of motor vehicle theft, investigators in northern Colorado served a search warrant on a residential property, where they seized about $200,000 in stolen property.

Much of the property was stolen from vehicles parked in Berthoud in late May, according to a Larimer County sheriff’s news release. Additional recovered stolen property is from Boulder, Longmont, Fort Collins, Lakewood and Parker.

On May 28, Larimer County deputies and investigators responded to the 400 block of Grand Market Avenue in Berthoud to assist Boulder police and detectives in an arrest of two auto-theft suspects, the sheriff’s office said Friday.

Cory J. Lafferty, 34, of Berthoud, and Justin J. Castner, 31, of Greeley, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated motor vehicle theft and violation of bail conditions, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home and property in Berthoud and recovered five stolen vehicles and two stolen trailers, the release said. Additional stolen items recovered included tools, firearms, credit cards, electronics and other property.

“The cooperation and hard work of several law enforcement agencies led to the dismantling of this multi-county theft ring,” said Capt. Robert Coleman, LCSO, in the release. “We are very pleased that many of the victims have already had their property returned to them.”
