A former pastor from Oregon was sentenced Thursday to more than 11 years in federal prison for a child pornography conviction.
James Parkhurst, 57, of Portland, was sentenced in Denver by U.S. District Chief Judge Marcia S. Krieger, who also ordered Parkhurst to serve 15 years of probation after his release from prison, according to a U.S. attorney’s news release.
Parkhurst pleaded guilty Nov. 16 to one count of transportation of child pornography.
In August 2010, Parkhurst traveled to Colorado, where he took photographs of nude minors who were in his care. A forensic examination of electronic devices seized from his Oregon residence in 2016 revealed hundreds of thousands of images and more than 3,500 videos of minors in various stages of undress, including minors posed in sexually suggestive and erotic poses.
Parkhurst was sentenced to 135 months in prison.
