Slain woman, 67, identified in Aurora shooting

A 67-year-old woman slain in Aurora Monday has been identified as Mae Rose Garth, according to the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

Garth was shot to death, according to the coroner’s office. The incident was reported around 9:20 a.m. in the 600 block of North Potomac Street, according to Aurora police. A man who is related to Garth was taken into custody at the scene and held for questioning.

Police on Monday called the man, who has not been identified, a person of interest and declined to say how he was related to Garth.

Police did not immediately respond Tuesday to questions about whether the man remained in custody or whether police were working with a district attorney to file charges.
